Mom’s Day Out / One Year Olds

Beginning September 2000, Countryside began offering a Mom’s Day Out program for children 12-24 months of age. This program takes place in the “Annex” which is located next to the main building. The days and hours of operation are Monday thru Friday 8:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m. We also offer a full day option (8:30-12:30). Both of these programs run September through May in conjunction with our school calendar for vacations and holidays.

Our Annex also houses our extended day program (7 a.m. -5:30 p.m.) for our one year old’s. This is a year-round program.

Our Annex has the capacity to accept 9 children. A waiting list will be available if the program fills. As openings occur, families will be notified and welcomed to fill the available slots.

The children come to play in a safe, nurturing environment which encourages growth and development, while their parents get to take a break. The program is designed to allow parents the opportunity to run errands, participate in an exercise program, go to lunch, shopping, or whatever might seem fun and enjoyable at the time.

The Annex has a traditional playroom as well as a well equipped Montessori Classroom.

The children will be taken on short walks on Countryside’s property to see our two resident ponies, Apple Jax and Thunder. As well as a daily period of outdoor play (weather permitting).

Families who wish to participate in the Mom’s Day Out program must send in an application along with a $75 non-refundable application fee.

Tuition is pre-paid monthly as listed on the tuition chart. There are no refunds or deductions if a child misses for any reason. Discounts are given for additional days and siblings.

Parents must provide disposable diapers, wipes and a change of clothes for their child.  All belongings should be labeled with the child’s name.

In order for our staff to be able to provide the best care for all children enrolled in our program, children must be using a cup (no bottles) if enrolled in the MDO/One Year Old room.

Montessori Toddler programs offer a curriculum that emerges from each child’s unique skills and interests. Based on daily observations, teachers introduce new materials and activities that pique curiosity and stimulate learning. Learning objectives for your child at this age include developing skills such as language, concentration, problem solving, visual discrimination, and physical coordination.

The routines of everyday living are the foundation of Montessori Toddler programs. Activities promote independence, order, coordination, and concentration, as well as support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

The Annex has a traditional playroom as well as a Toddler Montessori Classroom.  During our one-hour morning work period, the children rotate every twenty minutes between our three rooms. Our front playroom is where we work on our language skills! Each day we have a language activity and we focus on speech and language development. Staff also work with the children to help them learn recognizable words (body parts, names of things), sign language, and more. In our kitchen area, the children explore the sensory and science shelf, they are also introduced to different art media. Sensory play is a hands-on, immersive experience that helps children reconnect with their environment and discover the world through their senses. In the Montessori room, the children explore the Montessori materials in the areas of practical life, math and language.
